CPE/CPE MONITOR

For your convenience, AXIS compiled a list of common questions regarding continuing education, joint providership, etc; answers are provided below. Click on the topic above that seems most related to your question and search for your particular question in that section of this page.

  • Does AXIS offer pharmacy technicians credits?
  • What is CPE Monitor?
  • Is the use of CPE Monitor required?
  • What are the consequences to pharmacists and technicians if they do not create a CPE Monitor profile?
  • If a pharmacy professional has questions regarding the CPE Monitor process and the profile creation, who should he/she contact for more information?
  • Will AXIS give paper statements of credit to pharmacy professionals who participate in a certified educational activity?

Yes. Before certifying an activity for pharmacy technician credits, however, AXIS will ensure that the level of programming is appropriate for a pharmacist technician.

CPE Monitor is a national, collaborative effort by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education and the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy to provide an electronic system for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to track their completed CPE credits. CPE Monitor offers state boards of pharmacy the opportunity to electronically authenticate the CPE credits completed by their licensees, rather than requiring pharmacists and technicians to submit their proof of completion statements upon request or for random audits.

Yes, the use of CPE Monitor is required by all Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education–accredited providers.

AXIS, as an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)–accredited provider,  will not distribute paper statements of credit for ACPE-accredited activities. The CPE Monitor system is expected to be the single repository of this information, which will be maintained on behalf of the licensees, and will report this information to state boards who request verification of CPE. Learners who create a CPE Monitor profile will be able to monitor the accuracy and completeness of their CPE information reported by ACPE-accredited providers (including AXIS) and can proactively contact the appropriate accredited provider if they think their information is not properly reported. Those who create a CPE Monitor profile will also be able to access and print or download a record of their completed ACPE-accredited CPE activities for their own records, or in cases where their licensing agency requires it.

If pharmacists/technicians do not create a CPE Monitor profile, information regarding their completed ACPE-accredited activities will not be collected on their behalf to report to the licensing board(s) as part of any CPE audit. This may have negative consequences regarding their efforts to maintain licensure in states where CPE compliance is required.

We strongly encourage all pharmacists/technicians to create and maintain their CPE Monitor profiles to ensure that there are no difficulties with documenting and reporting information regarding their completed ACPE-accredited CPE activities.

For questions regarding CPE Monitor profile creation and maintenance, as well as questions about the reporting process to the state boards of pharmacy, the pharmacy professional should contact the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy customer service department at (847) 391-4406, Monday-Friday between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM Central time.

No. Paper statements of credit will not be provided to pharmacy professionals who participant in a certified educational activity. Information regarding the credit awarded to each participant will be uploaded directly to CPE Monitor. If the participant would like a hard copy documentation of their completed credits, he/she may print a record from their CPE Monitor profile.

Pharmacists and technicians can print their records in their entirety, as well as individual statements of credit, by accessing their CPE Monitor profile at www.mycpemonitor.net.net or http://www.nabp.net.
